In September, Newsreel about Building Capitalism will see its first public presentation at the Slovenian Cinemateque in Ljubljana. Historically, this form was used as a weapon of psychological propaganda; here it is used as a tool for research and propaganda. The Newsreel is a performative preamble to an informal research project into the interconnectedness of image and capitalism. At this stage, it acts as a summary travelogue and an attempt at articulating the key topics of reference. An excerpt from the film and some documentary material will be on view at the +MSUM.

Nika Autor works in the field of contemporary art practices. Philosopher Ciril Oberstar, MA, works as the social issues editor for the journal Dialogi. Jelena Petrović is a member of the art-theory group Grupa Spomenik and of the feminist curatorial group Red Min(e)d. Lidija Radojević is pursuing doctoral studies at the Universität für angewandte Kunst in Vienna.

The film projection at the Slovenska Kinoteka will be commented by Ciril Oberstar and Andrej Šprah
